Tamper-evident foil seals made with induction sealing

Tamper-evident foil seals help customers see whether a bottle or jar has been opened. Induction sealing creates the foil bond after the cap has been applied, provided the liner and container are compatible.

How the foil seal is made

The aluminium layer in the cap liner is heated by induction. The heat activates a seal layer that bonds to the container mouth. After cooling, the foil remains attached when the cap is removed.

Benefits for packaging

A good foil seal can support tamper evidence, leakage control, freshness, hygiene and brand confidence. It can also provide a stronger first-open cue for retail or ecommerce packs.

Limits and checks

The seal is only as reliable as the pack components and machine setup. Check liner compatibility, cap torque, mouth finish and product residue before increasing speed or production volume.

Tamper-evidence boundary

Define what the consumer should see on first opening.

The foil, print, tab or peel behaviour should make first opening understandable, but the pack must also resist normal handling without creating false evidence of opening. Agree acceptable appearance, adhesion and removal with the packaging-component supplier and buyer quality team.

Induction sealing can provide a first-open barrier, but it is not a substitute for all security, traceability or regulatory controls required by a product.

  • Confirm foil design and print are approved.
  • Define clean peel, weld or destruct behaviour.
  • Inspect the full circumference for channels.
  • Check cap reseal after foil removal where required.
  • Assess distribution and consumer opening conditions.
