Induction sealer site preparation and utilities

Plan conveyor space, electrical supply, access, controls and commissioning evidence before an inline induction sealer arrives on site.

Pre-installation checklist

Prepare the line around the quoted machine and the actual container path.

An inline induction sealer is normally positioned after capping, with the sealing head centred over the capped-container path. Site preparation therefore includes more than a power outlet. The conveyor must carry each pack stably through the induction field, operators need safe access for setup and changeover, and the controls must define what happens when the sealer or line stops.

The final requirements must come from the accepted quotation, drawings and manual for the supplied equipment. The checklist below is intended to expose missing project information before installation, not to replace machine-specific instructions or a competent site risk assessment.

Installation sequence

Agree ownership before the engineer arrives.

Confirm who will move and position the machine, provide lifting or access equipment, make electrical connections, alter the conveyor, supply production samples and release the line for testing. Where the sealer is being added to a running line, also agree the production downtime and the condition in which the line will be handed over.

The sealer should be level and mechanically stable, but final head alignment must follow the real bottle path. Guide rails should keep the cap centre under the head without squeezing or tipping the container. Where several bottle widths are used, record the rail and head settings needed for each format.

  1. Verify the accepted machine drawing against the intended line position.
  2. Confirm utilities and isolation before delivery or engineer attendance.
  3. Prepare representative filled packs from the production component batches.
  4. Check cap application and liner presence before adjusting induction power.
  5. Prove low, target and high operating conditions using the agreed checks.
  6. Record settings, rejected limits, training and handover actions.

Use the site's safe-isolation and lock-off process. Do not clean fans, filters, heads or mechanical adjustments with unexpected start-up possible.

Frequently asked questions

Can an induction sealer be positioned anywhere on an existing conveyor?

It needs a stable, accessible straight section after capping, with enough clearance for the head and frame. Bottle transfer, guide rails, speed control and downstream equipment can restrict the usable position.

Is compressed air always required?

Not necessarily for the core sealer, but pneumatic rejection or other line equipment may require it. Confirm the final utility schedule for the quoted configuration.

Should the sealer stop when the conveyor stops?

The control philosophy should prevent packs from receiving uncontrolled exposure and should protect the equipment. The exact interlock and restart sequence must be agreed for the supplied line.

What samples are needed for commissioning?

Use representative production caps, liners, containers and product where safe and practical. Include each important cap diameter, liner construction and bottle-height group.

Who should approve the final sealing window?

The buyer should define the acceptance criteria and nominate the responsible production or quality personnel. Lancing can support setup and evidence, but product-specific approval remains a site decision.
